my grieve song

well, it's not really mine, it's peter gabriel's. have you heard a song of his called 'i grieve'? it's on the city of angels soundtrack. that is one lovely song. we were listening to it the other day, although were not at all in a grieving mood, since we were on our way to a friend's house to have vegetarian (soy based) hot dogs. they were divinely delicious, by the way.

anyway, the song. i especially like how he starts out by grieving over the loss. it's really sad. and the way he sings it with such honest emotion... until what i call part two begins. you see, he doesn't simply stay there, in the desperation of the sudden change, he completes the cycle by realizing that, ok, that happened and it's mega sad and i cry about it, but life carries on. despite the loss, life carries on and on and on and on. at first he sings this with reluctance, how life should still carry on while i'm feeling this way, but then it becomes more upbeat as this is accepted and understood and it sort of raises you and gives you back the joy of continuing your life despite the change. i think it's beautiful. it includes both aspects of such a situation. but the best thing is how he sings it.

if you have a chance to hear it, maybe you could like it.

here are some of the lyrics to it:

It was only one hour ago
It was all so different then
Nothing yet has really sunk in
...
I grieve...... for you
You leave....... me

So hard to move on
Still loving what's gone
...
I can't handle this
...
Let it out and move on
Missing what's gone
They say life carries on
...
Life carries on in the people I meet
In everyone that's out on the street
...
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on
...

Peter Gabriel always kick ass. Y esa cancion e aperisima. A lot of people are afraid of grieving. I'm welcoming it lately in my life. As the song goes...it will later evolve. But I can't get to the other side without suffering through this one...

mmm, that sounds good. en el restaurante ananda (682-7153) venden salami, hot dogs, y jamon- absolutely yummy, healthy, and cheap.

yupsie, that is one good soundtrack, and grieving, it's a necessary process. but, after that, life carries on. :D

si, definitivamente te lo recomiendo (probarlo cuando vengas, porque no se en que estado llegarian por fedex, hehe.) pero puedes chequear donde vives, there should be someplace where they sell it, pa sacarle cuarto a los vegetarianos, y pa que no se mueran de hambre. :P
