As the "For somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good" song goes in The Sound of Music, "Nothing comes from nothing. Nothing ever could." So if I sit and wait for things to simply happen, and I don't do anything to make them happen, well, hello, I'm in for long hours of disappointment. It is up to me. Up to ME. UP TO ME. Not down to me: up. Always UP. Higher and better. UP!!!

Indeed... Never the other way around... And if I should find myself in regression mode, I shall quickly provide myself with a jump start and determinedly continue forward and up.
